Frequently Asked Questions

Abstract Pearl Texture

1. What should I expect during the initial consultation?

The initial consultation is a collaborative, pressure-free space for us to explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. We will discuss your current challenges, relevant background, and any specific goals you have. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, experience my therapeutic style, and decide together if we are a good fit for working together.

2. What is Schema Therapy, and how does it differ from traditional CBT?

While traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses primarily on identifying and shifting current thought patterns and behaviors, Schema Therapy goes deeper. It helps us identify core, long-standing emotional patterns (or "schemas") developed earlier in life that continue to trigger self-defeating reactions today. By combining cognitive, experiential, and behavioral techniques, Schema Therapy helps you unlearn these deeply ingrained patterns and build lasting emotional resilience.

3. How do you integrate applied neuroscience into therapy?

Understanding how your nervous system and brain process stress, trauma, and emotion gives you a practical "user manual" for your mind. I translate complex neuroscientific principles into clear, actionable insights so you can understand why your body and mind react the way they do. This demystifies symptoms like anxiety or emotional overload and empowers you with science-backed tools for self-regulation.

4. How does remote/online therapy work, and is it as effective as in-person sessions?

Yes, extensive clinical research shows that online psychological therapy is just as effective as face-to-face sessions. Online therapy offers the convenience and comfort of engaging in sessions from your own private space. All remote appointments are conducted via a secure, encrypted healthcare platform to ensure strict confidentiality and data privacy.

5. Can I use my private health insurance to cover session fees?

Yes. As an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist, I am recognized by major private healthcare insurance provider BUPA. Prior to booking, please contact your insurance provider to confirm your coverage details, authorization code, and any policy limits or excess fees that may apply.
